When the holyman eventually learned of the couple's true identities, he informed Amidala's niece, Pooja Naberrie, of the union.

Veré was created by Tim Veekhoven, writing as "Sompeetalay," for the character Maxiron Agolerga's Databank entry via the What's The Story? Hyperspace feature on StarWars.com. The entry was written in February 2007 and published in early 2008. The eternal lovers' motif was borrowed from author J. R. R. Tolkien's tale "Of Beren and Lúthien," which details the romance between a mortal man named Beren and an Elf-maiden named Lúthien. Veekhoven stated that the name "Veré" was a common Naboo name and that Maxiron Agolerga was happy to officiate the wedding without caring that the couple used aliases.
