On the Colossus, Kazuda Xiono intercepted a coded signal from Resistance spy Norath Kev. Kaz then told Captain Doza he wanted to search for the Resistance spy. Doza argued, assuming that the signal was a trap. Jarek Yeager also volunteered to join the mission, along with CB-23. Doza agreed they can go, and Kaz also brought Synara San with the mission as well. They took an orange/white transport and they went to Vargo Spaceport.
As the crew arrived at Vargo Spaceport, Kaz asked CB-23 if she can home in on the Resistance signal. CB-23 replied to Kaz that the signal was coming from across the village. Jarek Yeager said to Kaz to keep a low profile. Kaz replied that he was a spy, and assured that he knew how to keep a low profile. Ironically, Kaz accidentally fell over a barrel that had food in it that belonged to a shop owner. As Synara walked passed Kaz, who was on the ground, she said to him to maybe keep a lower profile. The shop owner was angry, and threw a fruit at Kaz's head.
Varkana first appeared, and was identified, in "The Missing Agent," the twelfth episode of the second season of the animated television series Star Wars Resistance which on aired December 22. 2019. Prior to the episode's release, the planet was depicted, albeit unidentified, in a season trailer released on August 14 of the same year. The planet's architecture was designed to be reflective of Westerns.
