While the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas mentions that the Vagaari Wars happened after Thrawn's death, the 2004 novel Survivor's Quest makes it clear that the Chiss have not seen the Vagaari since the time of the Outbound Flight Project in 27 BBY, which would place the first and second of the Vagaari Wars prior to 27 BBY.
