That year, while giving away flowers with Ro at a station in the Dalnan city Ferdan's market, fellow Little Jerid teased Utalir, telling her that her yellow head tendrils were prettier than flowers and wondering what the Path would get in return if they gave her up as a gift freely given. After a Jedi briefly visited their station, she asked the other Littles what a Jedi was and Jerid told her that they were warriors who fought monsters.
When the Path's compound was threatened by flooding later that year, the Littles stayed with Elders Old Waiden and . She and Jerid even looked after three toddlers during the event.
Due to her Force-sensitivity, which was unknown to Utalir and the rest of the Path, she was attacked by a Nameless during the Night of Sorrow, but she was rescued by Marda and her cousin Yana Ro.
