Ask a Nerd a Question

Monotremes and marsupials are not the same thing. You using those words interchangeably bothers me. Marsupials are a mammalian infraclass identifiable by the fact females have a pouch they carry their young in. Monotremes are an order of mammals that lay eggs. Two totally different things. Yeahs they're both Australian mammals, but that is where the similarities end. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just trying to help you understand that. User: Parker Green (EDT) 2:56 PM, May 16, 2021

  • Right, sorry for the confusion. But this is nothing to do with Star Wars and probably doesn’t belong on my talk page.

Loden Greatstorm

Hey, Fisto! I get asked the question a lot. So, about Mr. Greatstorm: The main reason I don't particularly appreciate him is because he doesn't really fit in with the High Republic Jedi to me. What I love about this era is the fact that it shows a time when the Jedi were not corrupted by politics and whatnot. They were truly ones with the Force. They valued the Force and their fellow Jedi, serving the Republic to signify themselves as a true beam of what the Jedi stand for: Balance and the equality that comes as a result. In the Prequels, the Jedi were obviously overly stoic and overambitious, and this led to their downfall. Unfortunately, Loden feels like he'd fit in with those type of Jedi, which doesn't match with basically every single Jedi in this era. It feels out of place, and I recognized way too similarities in his characterizations that we've seen before in Jedi, which further led me to dislike his arc. He is the kind of Master that doesn't have too many emotions. We saw this with many Jedi in the Prequel Trilogy, but we got to see them in the moment with our own eyes. With this era being told in book form, it's even harder for me to connect with the characters, and the fact that his personality is arguably nonexistent is not something that gravitates me to the character. Sure, he has bits of wholesome humor and showcases his extraordinary powers, but we've seen this before dozens of times in the Prequel era, especially. His snippets of personality merely felt unoriginal and uninspiring to me. While it is great to see more diversity in the types of Masters across the galaxy of this time, I just don't think it was earned. However, I think that in Phase Two (which I'm so very excited for) we will see him explore his inner vulnerabilities because he is now captured by the Nihil. I'm excited to see this new journey commence and how it impacts Bell and the Jedi Order as a whole. Also, my apologies if the formatting for this is incorrect!

Thanks for asking,

Joey

  • Oh right, that makes sense. Thanks for responding!
