Unidentified protoplanetary disk

Description

Located in the Kuna's Eye system of the Moddell subsector of the Outer Rim Territories' Zuma sector, within the Inner Zuma Region at galactic coordinates H-16, a protoplanetary disk surrounded the blue giant star Kuna's Eye. The disk's parent system was less than 1,000 light-years above the galactic plane, which made it a part of the thin disk, the tract of space whose vertical distance from the plane was not more than 1,000 light-years. The protoplanetary disk was rich in minerals, metals, and alloys.

History

As of the year 43 ABY, the protoplanetary disk had not condensed into planets. At the time, Kuna's Eye was also relatively young, which made the system a fairly typical constellation. The Kuna's Eye system was also frequented by prospectors, and a cobbled-together shadowport and space station called the Mote was built to serve their needs.

Behind the scenes

The first mention of the protoplanetary disk came from the article Endor and the Moddell Sector, authored by Craig Robert Carey, Daniel Wallace, and Jason Fry, and published in the ninth issue of Star Wars Gamer magazine, released on March 1, 2002. The disk was also mentioned in The Essential Atlas, a reference book written by Wallace and Fry released on August 18, 2009.
