After being freed from enslavement in 40 BBY, the human Cady chose to attend the Alderaan academy when offered the opportunity to pursue her education by the Pijali minister Orth. Not long after, Orth discussed Cady's decision to attend the school with Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. At some point by 0 BBY, the leadership academy had been destroyed when the rest of Alderaan was annihilated by the Galactic Empire's Death Star battle station.
