Unidentified Venator-class Star Destroyer (Zeffo)

A Venator-class Star Destroyer served in the navy of the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars, under the command of Jedi General Chiata. Towards the end of the war, the Venator-class Star Destroyer became engaged in a battle against a dreadnought of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, with both vessels sustaining severe damage. After falling out of hyperspace, the Star Destroyer crashed onto the planet Zeffo. Chiata and her Padawan, Marseph, both survived, though were separated. Shortly after the crash, Order 66 was executed, and the clone troopers aboard the wrecked ship turned on the Jedi leading to Chiata and Marseph dying. In 14 BBY, the fallen venator was discovered by the former Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis.

Description

The fallen venator crash landed on the planet Zeffo close to what later became the Imperial Headquarters. The crash landing caused 3 distinct areas- the Crash Site, the Broken Wing and the Venator Wreckage to form including water bodies surrounding these areas. By 14 BBY, the native fauna of Zeffo would inhabit the fallen venator which included the jotaz, phillak and scazz with the rabid version of the jotaz also present.

Clone Wars

The Venator class star destroyer that crashed on Zeffo served in the Galactic Republic Navy and was placed under the command of Jedi General Chiata. At some point in the last year of the Clone Wars, the ship would inflict heavy damage on a Separatist Dreadnought in a battle however the ship would also suffer the same fate causing the ship to fall out of hyperspace and crash onto Zeffo.

Order 66 and Aftermath

When the ship crashed, Jedi General Chiata and an unknown clone commander of the ship would survive. They would attempt to locate Padawan Marseph. At some point, Order 66 would be initiated leading to the Padawan hiding in a ventilation shaft. Jedi General Chiata would manage to find her padawan however was disoriented and gravely wounded. They fought back against the clones and attempted to flee. While they were trying to escape. Jedi General Chiata couldn't flee anymore, reeling from the multiple wounds. Chiata would later die with the padawan making a grave for his master. During this, the clones would attempt to hunt down the Jedi where the Clone Commander was killed by a lightsaber.

At some point, the villagers who lived on Zeffo came across the Crash Site area and built a memorial honouring the fallen clones. They were unaware however of the truth of Order 66.

Imperial Era

By 14 BBY, the Galactic Empire occupied the planet and built the Imperial Dig Site near the crashed Venator Class Star Destroyer which could be accessed by using an turbolift. In 14 BBY, Cal Kestis would come across the Crashed Venator Class Star Destroyer while exploring the Imperial Excavation near it.

Behind the scenes

The fallen Venator first appeared in the 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order developed by Respawn Entertainment. This would be influenced by 3D Metroidvania style design with the video game becoming the first game in the Star Wars Jedi Franchise. Concept art for the fallen Venator was done by Jean-Francois Rey which later featured in the reference book The Art of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
