The cruiser is destroyed.
The ship was part of the Rebel Command Fleet sent to destroy the Death Star II, but was caught in the Imperial trap set for the Rebel Alliance and was one of several Mon Calamari cruisers, along with the Liberty, to be destroyed by the battlestation's superlaser.
For a long time fans believed this ship was the Defiance from the X-wing computer games. This was disproved by the Jedi Knights Trading Card Game which states the Defiance survived the Battle of Endor.
