A contact of Lady Qi'ra—the leader of the criminal syndicate Crimson Dawn—was one of many she had within the Galactic Empire during her war against the Sith. Between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, when the syndicate's assassin Ochi of Bestoon killed ten of Emperor Palpatine's Royal Guards in the Imperial Palace on the Imperial capital world Coruscant, the Sith Lord Darth Vader was sent to investigate.
Afterward, the contact informed Qi'ra of Vader's investigation, which allowed her to send the Knights of Ren—a group of dark side practitioners—to carry out a heist on Vader's castle on the planet Mustafar so they could acquire a key she needed. As the Knights made their way to Mustafar, "Ren"—the Knights' leader—reassured his fellow Knights, telling them what Qi'ra's contact had relayed on the Sith's investigation. Following this, however, Vader appeared in his castle and almost prevented the Knights from completing their mission.
