A Bothan served as the vice chancellor of the Galactic Republic under Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum as part of the Office of the Supreme Chancellor in 34 BBY. In the planet Coruscant's Senate Rotunda, during a session of the Galactic Senate involving a discussion about creating a military, outrage filled the Rotunda, and the Bothan unnecessarily called for quiet. After Valorum asked the Senate to provide private militaries for a blockade of the planet Yinchorr, the vice chancellor was forced to try to establish order. Shortly after, the Bothan gave the Trade Federation's senator, Lott Dod, permission to speak. Sate Pestage, who served as one of the aides of Senator Palpatine of the planet Naboo, commented that the Bothan did so with customary impeccable timing.
