Tythos was a star in the Tython system that was located within the galaxy's Deep Core region. The star was orbited by eleven planets, including Tython, the birthplace of the mystic Je'daii Order. Tythos appeared from space to be yellow-orange in color. More than a millennium after the year 36,453 BBY, the non–Force-sensitive settlers of Tython traveled toward the planet's sun and colonized the innermost planets of the star system. Tythos could be seen from the worlds of Tython and Shikaakwa on several occasions during the subsequent thousands of years, and by 25,793 BBY, the Je'daii Temple Master Kora Ryo had made a habit of meditating on Tython before the view of setting Tythos.
Tythos was a star in the Tython system that was located within the galaxy's Deep Core region. The star was orbited by eleven planets—hot Sunspot and Malterra, the two innermost planets that rotated around Tythos in opposite directions, the manufacturing world of Nox, the arid planet Krev Coeur, Tython, the birthplace of the mystic Je'daii Order, the important planets of Kalimahr and Shikaakwa, the verdant planet Ska Gora, the gas giants Obri and Mawr, and, finally, cold Furies Gate, the outermost planet. Scientists speculated that Sunspot had originally been a rogue planetoid that had been captured by the gravitational pull of Tythos. A number of moons orbited the planets in turn—Ashla and Bogan circled Tython, Kalimahr had three natural satellites, both Shikaakwa and Ska Gora each had a single moon, while Obri and Mawr, also known as "the Giants," had three and seven moons, respectively. Following the settlement of the Tython system, Furies Gate also acquired a satellite in the form of a space station called Fury Station. Tythos appeared from space to be yellow-orange in color.
More than a millennium after the year 36,453 BBY, the non–Force-sensitive settlers of Tython traveled toward Tythos and colonized the worlds of Sunspot, Malterra, Nox and Krev Coeur. Tythos could later be seen shining on the temple of Stav Kesh on Tython on at least two occasions during the subsequent thousands of years, and could also be observed from Shikaakwa and from space near Krev Coeur in 25,793 BBY. By that time, the Twi'lek Je'daii Temple Master Kora Ryo had made a habit of meditating in the temple of Kaleth before the view of setting Tythos. More than twenty thousand years later, Tythos could be seen in space while Theron Shan—a Human spy of the Galactic Republic—left the world of Tython in his starship.
Tythos was first pictured in the entry for Tython in The Holonet feature of the official website for Star Wars: The Old Republic—a 2011 massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by BioWare. The star was depicted in a schematic of the Tython system. Since its establishment in 2008, The Old Republics website has gone through a number of changes, resulting in the removal of some of the features and images that were originally located there, including the aforementioned schematic. Tythos made its first in-universe appearance in the eleventh issue of the Star Wars: The Old Republic series of comics which was published in October 12, 2011, written by Alexander Freed and penciled by Dave Ross. The star's name was provided in Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi 0, a preview issue of the Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi series of comics. The issue was published on February 1, 2012, and was written by John Ostrander and penciled by Jan Duursema. Tythos also appeared in the first, the second, the sixth, the seventh and the eighth issue of the series—published on February 15, March 21, November 28 and December 19 of year 2012 and February 27 of year 2013, respectively—and also received a mention in the short story Eruption that was authored by Ostrander and published in the one-hundred-forty-first issue of the Star Wars Insider magazine.
