Tumble hyperdrive

The tumble hyperdrive, also referred to as a tumbledrive, was a prototypical hyperdrive developed by the Devaronians and the Gossams circa 27,000 BBY. The unstable device allowed for jumps of variable distance and duration, hence the name. The Gossam Courivers used the drive to locate the planet Felucia.

Behind the scenes

The tumble hyperdrive first appeared in The Essential Atlas, written by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace. In the end notes on his blog, Wallace reveals that it was created to explain the Gossams' pre-Republic colonization of Felucia while minimizing the appearances of the hyperdrive before its established creation.
