The trees of Te Ani'la first appeared in "The Academy," the sixth episode in Season Three of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series. In the new Star Wars canon, they were first identified in the 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia. The name "Te Ani'la" was first coined for the character Mandalore the Ultimate from the Star Wars Legends continuity by the Wookieepedia user .
