The transportation committee was a committee in the Galactic Republic's Galactic Senate headed by Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine that focused on the transportation of goods. After becoming senator for Naboo in the Senate, Padmé Amidala considered joining the committee, but was discouraged from doing so by Palpatine because of her known ties to Tatooine and to him, claiming her qualifications would undermine his authority. Palpatine then informed Amidala he would do his best to keep her up to date of his progress and would let the senator know if her help was needed.
