Trace initially told Ahsoka Tano that their parents had "split," leaving them the family business, but Rafa later told her that they had been killed during the Senate hostage crisis, when Cad Bane, who she remembered as a "red-eyed alien," had shot down a transport during Ziro Desilijic Tiure's escape, which the pursuing Jedi stopped from crashing into a crowded platform, instead causing it to accidentally crash into the Martez family's quarters, killing both parents.
