While on an undercover mission on Tozeer after the Battle of Hoth, C-3PO was captured and dismantled by Tuskens. Luke Skywalker found his head and recovered the other pieces from Jawas known as "the Brothers." In exchange, Luke protected the Brothers' sandcrawler from the Tuskens.
