Biography

A human male TIE fighter pilot, Tonas flew with a TIE/ln space superiority starfighter squadron led by Captain Nosteen in the Galactic Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing. Two weeks after the death of Emperor Palpatine at the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, the 204th was tasked wiping out of all life on the planet Nacronis for the late Emperor's contingency plan Operation: Cinder. During the deployment to Nacronis, Tonas and the rest of the pilot's squadron protected TIE/sa bombers carrying vortex detonators. However, as enemy X-wing starfighters engaged the TIE squadron, Tonas was killed protecting a bomber from one X-wing.

The vortex detonators successfully stoked siltstorms that devastated Nacronis. Lieutenant Yrica Quell, Nosteen's second-in-command, defected to the New Republic after and told one of its interrogation droids her own fake defection story of her defection where she, Tonas and another pilot named Barath defected together but the latter two were killed in the process. Around 5 ABY, while subjected to force energies from a observatory, Quell saw visions of Tonas and other comrades in the 204th. In 11 ABY, Quell thought about Tonas while flying a Helotek Loadhauler shuttle.

Behind the scenes

Tonas was first mentioned in the 2019 novel Alphabet Squadron, the first volume in the Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron series, written by Alexander Freed.
