"To Catch a Jedi" is the nineteenth episode of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series' fifth season. It aired on February 23, 2013.

Official description

"The fugitive Ahsoka escapes to the criminal depths of Coruscant."

Plot summary

At the Jedi Temple, the Jedi Council holds an emergency meeting to decide the best way to find Ahsoka. While most on the Council believe that she may be guilty of the crime, Anakin Skywalker and Jedi Master Plo Koon are doubtful of her guilt. Therefore, Yoda sends the two to find Ahsoka. While Mace Windu feels that Anakin should not go due to emotional attachment to his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi strongly supports Anakin being a part of this mission.

While traveling through the underworld, Ahsoka contacts her friend, fellow Jedi Padawan Barriss Offee. Barriss tells Ahsoka to find a different means of contacting her and that she will investigate from her end. Ahsoka then breaks her comlink and acquires a cloak from a Gotal to disguise herself.

Ahsoka boards a train and hides from the police who are requesting passes. At the next stop, Ahsoka tries to exit but is caught by guards who were preparing to board the vehicle. She engages them in hand-to-hand combat, and then opens the door and dives onto a nearby platform. More guards see her, and chase her to an elevator area, where she promptly gets stuck in a falling elevator with a young Twi'lek boy who helps them escape.

After escaping the guards, Ahsoka is attacked from behind by the now bounty hunter, Asajj Ventress, who wants to turn her in for the bounty on her head. Ahsoka negotiates a deal with her: if Ventress helps her prove her innocence, Ahsoka will request a pardon for Ventress from the Galactic Senate. The two are spotted by Anakin's ship, and they quickly escape past a forcefield.

The two then travel further into the underlevels, and Ahsoka contacts Barriss via a public holographic system. Barriss tells Ahsoka about a warehouse where Letta Turmond obtained the nano-droids. As the pair make their way towards the warehouse, they are ambushed by a squad of clones led by Commander Wolffe. With no success in negotiating, they engage in a fist-fight, temporarily incapacitating the clones.

At the warehouse, Ventress departs, reminding Ahsoka that she still has her half of the deal to hold up. As she leaves, she is attacked by a cloaked, Force-wielding assailant. She is knocked out, and the assailant takes her lightsabers and helmet. Meanwhile, Ahsoka investigates the warehouse. There, the mysterious assailant attacks her and engages her in a duel. Assuming the attacker is Ventress, Ahsoka is pushed off a platform and falls beside a crate of nano-droids as a squad of clone troopers arrive. Before she has a chance to explain, she is knocked out by a stun blast fired by Commander Wolffe.

Anakin and Koon quickly arrive and see the crates of nano-droids. On the way back to the temple, they contact the council on the capturing of Ahsoka. Koon and Anakin still ponder if Ahsoka is the one behind the attack, or if the plot goes deeper than the Jedi know.

Continuity

The episode was named for the 1955 Alfred Hitchcock film To Catch a Thief.

Spots Podal and the Rattataki alien played by Robin Atkin Downes were not specifically identified in the episode itself, but they were identified in the trivia gallery for the episode on the official Star Wars site. The same trivia gallery also elaborates that the action in the episode covered Coruscant levels 1312 and 1315.

The tookas seen in the episode were named after Dave Filoni's deceased cat Tuuk. They first appeared as a stuffed doll in the episode "Innocents of Ryloth," but this episode marks their first appearance in the flesh.
