Tide of Progress XII

Description

As a Munificent-class star frigate, the Tide of Progress XII was employed for naval combat purposes. Stretching 825 meters (2,706 foot, 8 inches) in length, 426 meters (1,397 foot, 8 inches) in width, and 243 meters (797 foot, 3 inches) in height, the warship possessed a command bridge located toward its forward sections, which was accessible through a turbolift shaft. It was propelled by a series of seven ion drive thrusters fortified by the frigate's hull, which enveloped over and below the engines to provide a physical shield to deflect the thrusters from all angles except from directly behind.

In addition, the frigate was armed with two long-range heavy ion cannons, two slowly maneuverable heavy turbolaser cannons, and twenty-six twin turbolaser turrets, twenty light turbolaser turrets, and thirty-eight point-defense guns. The Munificent was powered by a number of energy cells, power cells, and a pair of port and starboard-mounted twin main reactors that could consume up to 2,300 tons of fuel per second. Furthermore, one of the reactors was capable of remaining operational in the event that damage to the other reactor rendered it inoperable.

The Tide of Progress XII was equipped with sensory antennas on its aftward vertical strut and monitored fleet perimeters through the utilization of several light-day–ranged high-performance sensors along its dorsal surface. It also featured several hyperdrive generators, power trunks, a stern ray shield generator that deflected deadly energy blasts, a stern neutrino radiator and shield heat sinks, and a pair of long-range hyperwave transceiver masts that could organize communications anywhere in the galaxy.

The frigate had multiple power feeds, ventral superdense reactant tanks, several inertial compensators and tensor field generators that maintained the warship's structural integrity that ran along its longitudinal spines, and five starboard-mounted docking rings. The Tide of Progress XII could hold up to 150,000 battle droids, and for ship-to-ship combat, the Munificent could carry and deploy up to forty-eight Vulture-class droid starfighters divided into four squadrons. Furthermore, the emblem of the Confederacy of Independent Systems was emblazoned on the Munificent's starboard hull.

History

Manufactured by Hoersch-Kessel Drive Inc., the Tide of Progress XII was active within the navy of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars against the Galactic Republic, which took place between 22 BBY and 19 BBY. At some point in the conflict, the frigate was located in the skies of an orange-clouded celestial body. It participated in an engagement with an opponent, where it fired its heavy turbolasers while also suffering damage to its hull. At another point, the Tide of Progress XII was involved in the Battle of Crombach Nebula against the Jedi Order. During the battle, Jedi Master Wom-Nii Gnaden collided his NTB-630 naval bomber against the frigate, dying as a result and leaving an impact mark on the frigate's starboard hull that remained visible further into the war.

The Tide of Progress XII was introduced as an unidentified vessel in the current Star Wars canon in the 2018 reference book Star Wars: Complete Vehicles as part of material reprinted from Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Incredible Cross-Sections, a 2005 reference book authored by Curtis Saxton, which also marked the introduction of the ship in the Star Wars Legends continuity. The ship's name was later brought into canon in an article posted on Fantasy Flight Games' official website titled "Conquer the Galaxy," which announced the Separatist Alliance Fleet Starter supplement for the Star Wars: Armada miniatures game. The article was published on July 31, 2020, and the supplement pack was released on December 4 that year.
