This Week! in Star Wars was launched on January 29, 2020 as a spinoff of The Star Wars Show, which shifted to a monthly release format. The show was hosted by StarWars.com associate editor Kristin Baver. Between May 28 and June 18, 2020, the show took a break after StarWars.com decided not to release any new videos and stated that they wanted to "let other voices be heard" as a result of the Black Lives Matter movement and the George Floyd protests.
In 2023, four episodes were branded as This Week! in Indiana Jones, as promotion for the film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
