The Third battalion was one of the units that attempted to stave off the advance of the Galactic Empire's World Devastators, but were decimated in the process. Despite getting aid from a New Republic task force, the battalion was unable to be evacuated and had to continue fighting, losing all of their air support in the process.
In the final stages of the battle, they boarded their Amphibion assault boats alongside Republic Sea Commandos and attempted to take over the Devastators from the inside. The attempt was aborted, as new orders were received from General Han Solo, telling them to evacuate. The battalion cheered as it observed the self-destruction of the World Devastator fleet.
