During the Battle of Christophsis in 22 BBY, the first year of the Clone Wars, Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi of the Galactic Republic met with General Whorm Loathsom of the Separatists under the pretense of surrendering while Kenobi's former Padawan, Anakin Skywalker, and Skywalker's new Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, snuck across the droid army's lines to disable their deflector shield generator. During the feigned but civilized negotiations, Kenobi requested refreshments and received a cup of tarine tea, which he took time to savor and further stall Loathsom. The Republic was ultimately victorious on Christophsis.
Holshef, an elderly human man in hiding from the Galactic Empire, would sometimes offer Merei Spanjaf tarine tea when she visited him to collect his credits to be paid to Yahenna Laxo for keeping him safe. While some people liked tarine tea, Baze Malbus of the Holy City on Jedha thought it tasted foul. Resistance spy Vi Moradi was another individual who hated the taste of tarine tea, though she did not admit it to Archex to spare his feelings; Archex also disliked tea, but he had collected leaves to dry and told Moradi of their purpose. Tarine tea was General Armitage Hux's favorite beverage, and it was rumored to be a favorite among others in the First Order.
A real world version of this drink is found as a "concoction without alcohol" during breakfast at Oga's Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. The menu's description reads, "Gold Peak Unsweetened Tea, peach, huckleberry, mint."
