Taozin amulet

Taozin amulets, also called Taozin skin nodules, were amulets made out of an excreted substance that collected on the skin of Taozin. They blurred and clouded Force senses so their wearers could not be detected easily by a Force-sensitive. Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Maul described attempting to detect a living creature as "almost like encountering a surface so slick that one could find no purchase on it.

Nodules were semi-transparent, roughly spherical, and approximately the size of a human thumb to a human fist. They were a pale yellow color similar to a Rancor's tusk.

Circa 32 BBY Lorn Pavan possessed a nodule that his droid companion I-5YQ had obtained from a living taozin that they had encountered in the depths of Coruscant. He would use it to hide his presence from Maul during an unsuccessful assassination attempt on the Sith's life. The artifact's cloaking effect was so effective that Maul could not sense his presence, even while looking directly at him.

These amulets were also used by Inquisitors on Imperial Center around 18 BBY. In the same year, Gregar Typho obtained a nodule from a Kubaz apothecary, while preparing for an attempt to assassinate Darth Vader. The apothecary considered it a "rare curiosity."
