TIE Advanced x7

The TIE Advanced x7 was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the forty-eighth issue of De Agostini's Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine. The issue establishes that the earliest TIE/D Defenders were developed from the TIE Advanced x7 prototypes first launched during the Battle of Hoth, which Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates to 3 ABY. Star Wars Rebels, however, establishes that the TIE/D Defender was an initiative launched by Grand Admiral Thrawn during the Lothal campaign that began in 2 BBY and ended in 1 BBY.

The forty-eighth issue of Build the Millennium Falcon establishes that six TIE Advanced x7s launched during the Battle of Hoth, after Renegade Squadron damaged two Victory II-class Star Destroyers of the Hoth blockade. While all six prototypes were destroyed, Sienar Fleet Systems gained valuable information for the further development of the TIE/D Defender.
