During the New Sith Wars, at least one unit within the Brotherhood of Darkness' Sith army used TC-17 rifles. In 1002 BBY, the unit known as the Gloom Walkers was assigned four TC-17s, one for each squad within the unit participating in the Battle of Phaseera. Sergeant Dessel, a former cortosis miner from the planet Apatros, used one of the rifles, which he took from fellow Gloom Walker Lucia, to kill several Galactic Republic soldiers during the battle.
