Suspended animation

Suspended animation was a state of temporary cessation of the vital functions. It could be achieved through various technologies, such as entropy fields, stasis fields, stasis domes, cybernetic hibernation, stasis chambers, or carbon-freezing. In his personal museum onboard the star yacht First Light, the gangster Dryden Vos kept several rare creatures in suspended animation as trophies.
