The cover art was designed by the renowned sci-fi artist John Berkey, who designed some of the earliest poster art for Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope in 1976.

Early materials from Parker Brothers initially referred to the game as Star Wars: Revenge of the Jedi: Game II, and then Star Wars: Return of the Jedi: Game II. The ultimately canceled Ewok Adventure game was Game I. Some early materials feature placeholder artwork featuring the battle at the sarlaac pit instead of the film's space battle.
A version for Intellivision was at one point slated for October 1983 but was never released.
