Song sparrow

A song sparrow was a type of colorful bird endemic to the planet Coruscant. Ky Narec, a Jedi Knight, enjoyed feeding and watching song sparrows and crown finches fly around the Great Tree, located in the Jedi Temple training ground in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Around 23 BBY, Narec's voice told Sith apprentice Asajj Ventress that when he was off-world, he missed feeding the birds that lived in the Jedi Temple. Song sparrows were regularly seen to flutter around the Temple's Great Tree.

Song sparrows were first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon by the audio drama Dooku: Jedi Lost, written by Cavan Scott and published on April 30, 2019. The spelling of song sparrows was confirmed by the audio drama's script release on October 1 of the same year. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, song sparrows were first mentioned in the short story "Tinian on Trial," written by Kathy Tyers and published in Star Wars Adventure Journal 4 by West End Games in November 1994.
