Shepherd Squadron fought during the Battle of Fondor Shipyards where their mission was to destroy the Interdictor-class Star Destroyer Spectral that was providing cover so Star Destroyers could escape. They fought deployed TIE fighters and failed there mission as Yancee Drai was killed as her X-wing exploded and Bak Rychuk disappeared into hyperspace with the ship.
Shepherd Squadron, consisting of a mix of A-wings, X-wings, and Y-wings, later arrived along with the rest of the New Republic fleet during the Battle of Jakku.
