Shard-class capital ship

The warships were roughly cone-shaped, and ranged from one and a half to ten kilometers in length. Their name was derived from the fact that they appeared to have been constructed by shattering a moon or asteroid into shards and then hollowing them out in a hive-like fashion. This method of construction provided these ships with extensive defenses, as each layer of the hive could be considered an extra set of armor plating.
