Shalla Ro's mother

An Evereni female individual lived during the High Republic Era. At one point, she created the pirate organization known as the Nihil, which had been originally founded by the Evereni Marda Ro, to be used as a weapon against the Jedi Order. Years before 252 BBY, she had a daughter—Shalla Ro—who was Marda's granddaughter. At some point, Shalla became the Nihil's leader and preferred to grow the Nihil in secret until the time to strike against the Jedi was right. By 252 BBY, Shalla had had a son named Asgar Ro

That year, Shalla and Asgar clashed about their plans for the group while aboard the Nihil flagship Gaze Electric. During their argument, Asgar stated that Shalla's mother had not intended for the Nihil to sit idle for so long, and that they had been created as a weapon, while Shalla responded with her belief they had to bide their time until it was the right time to strike. Asgar ultimately killed his mother during the argument and took over the Nihil.

Shalla Ro's mother was first mentioned in flashbacks in the first issue of the 2022 comic miniseries Star Wars: The High Republic: Eye of the Storm released as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I. The issue was written by Charles Soule and published by Marvel Comics on January 12, 2022. Author Tessa Gratton stated they had developed the Evereni character Velya Faer for the short story "A Closed Fist Has No Claws," published in the 2023 The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life anthology with the intention for Faer to be the father of the children of Marda Ro.
