A serraknife was a type of weapon used in the galaxy. By 1032 BBY, the weapon was considered ancient and exotic by the Human Jarrow Rusher, the leader of the mercenary force Rusher's Brigade. Rusher, an amateur historian who enjoyed studying ancient warfare, named one of his battalions after the weapon.
The serraknife was indirectly mentioned in John Jackson Miller's 2011 novel, Knight Errant, which stated that all of the battalions of Rusher's Brigade, including Serraknife Battalion, were named after ancient weapons. Serraknife Battalion was the only battalion of Rusher's Brigade whose namesake had not previously appeared in Star Wars canon.
