Sarka


Sarka was a planet located in the galaxy's Mid Rim, in grid square Q-8 on the Standard Galactic Grid. It was the homeworld of the reptilian Sarkan species. By the time of the Galactic Civil War, Sarka was ruled by Queen Zil.

Sarka was a planet located in the the galaxy's Mid Rim. Its surface was covered in caverns, jungles, mountains, rivers, and waterfalls. The native Sarkans lived underground in large caves where they mined gems such as aqua jewels and corusca gems. Sarka had an atmosphere breathable to humans.

History


Sometime prior to the Galactic Civil War, the great-great-great grandmother of Queen Zil broke into the Palace of the Queen of the Sarkans to rescue Zil's great-great grandfather from a mob.

During the Imperial Era, the Galactic Empire purchased gemstones from the Sarkan gem mines.

During the Galactic Civil War, Queen Zil hosted an envoy from the Alliance to Restore the Republic. However, Lord Rooz contacted Imperial agent, intending to disrupt the summit.

Inhabitants


Sarka was the homeworld of the Sarkans, a species of bipedal, egg-laying reptiles. The Sarkans often wore bright, colorful robes, and their economy was based around trading the gems they mined. The Sarkans were ruled by a monarchy, which during the Galactic Civil War was led by Queen Zil, who was served by her advisor Lord Rooz. Sarkan culture was heavily based around an ever-changing array of protocols, and visitors to the world were expected to be polite and knowledgeable of the current customs. The most important one of these rules was believed by C-3PO to be the one that forbade any Sarkan from standing on the .

Behind the scenes


The planet of Sarka was first mentioned in canon on a map in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, released in 2016 by Fantasy Flight Games. It first directly appeared in "Mind Your Manners," a short comic included in Star Wars Adventures Annual 2018 that was released on April 18, 2018.

Sarka was first mentioned was in the 1992 Star Wars Legends novel Dark Force Rising, which was written by Timothy Zahn.
