Salvage droid holding arm

The salvage droid holding arm, commonly referred to simply as a holding arm, was a repulsorlift droid produced by Serv-O-Droid, Inc., in operation during the last decades of the Galactic Republic.

The holding arm was designed for deployment on Podrace courses to salvage debris from crash sites. They could carry as much as 500 kg (1100 lb) of scrap metal, with the help of three P-100 salvage droids deployed from the underside of the arm. It included an omnidirectional homing device that located distress beacons from damaged or destroyed racers.

After its P-100s were reloaded into the droid, the holding arm would return to the main Podrace arena to drop off collected parts. If an owner did not claim their parts within two hours, they would either be auctioned or sold, often to Jawas.

Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I incorrectly refers to the holding arm as a "P-100 salvage droid."
