The Salliche was a frigate in the Imperial Navy during the Imperial Era. The vessel shared its name with the agriworld Salliche, which was located in the Core Worlds. In 14 BBY, the Salliche was in the flotilla belonging to Sentinel Base, an Imperial facility commanded by Moff Wilhuff Tarkin which oversaw the construction of the Imperial battle station later known as the Death Star.
At that time, when a fake transmission claimed that the nearby Rampart Station was under attack from a rebel cell, the Salliche, along with the spacetug Fremond, was vacant and parked in stationary orbit over the moon Sentinel Base was situated on. When read a list of the base's starships by a comm specialist, Tarkin decided on Sentinel's other available vessel, the combat-ready Venator-class Star Destroyer Electrum, to deal with the attack.
