Safe Starship Regulations

The Safe Starship Regulations were a set of regulations which limited the strength and number of armaments that a starship could have built into it. After the release of the heavily armed Helix-class light interceptor by Arakyd Industries an Imperial mandate was released by the Galactic Empire ordering any pilot who had purchased an interceptor to modify it to fit within the Safe Starship Regulations. The Protocol droid C-D20 mentioned the regulations effecting the Helix class when he described the ship to a member of the Alliance to Restore the Republic looking for a freighter to use in their next mission.

The Safe Starship Regulations were first mentioned in 1995 in the article "A Buyer's Guide to Alternative Starships" which was published in the fifth issue of the Star Wars Adventure Journal series of supplement books for West End Games, Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The article was written by Stephen Luminati.
