The Ryyk Nebula was first mentioned in The Admiral's List: Remember Serroco! Edition, an in-universe news report appearing on the final page of Knights of the Old Republic 16, a comic written by John Jackson Miller and released in 2007. The nebula was also mentioned in the reference book The Essential Atlas and its online companion.
