Rust Rats was a nickname for the poor, downtrodden populace at the bottom of society on Reuss VIII. These people, mainly kids, had been subjugated for hundreds of years by various companies, including Torel Vorne's Reuss Corporation. Due to environment problems caused by these corporations, the average lifespan of Reussi citizens was no more than forty years. Between 5 and 6 ABY, a New Republic Intelligence operation involving shockboxer Lobar Aybock and Mygo Skinto, posing as a Rust Rat, led to the suspension of the corporation's operations and the betterment of life for the Rust Rats.
