The rrwii was a plant native to the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk. It grew especially heavy in the Etyyy region of the planet. In 1 ABY, at the height of the Galactic Civil War, the Wookiee Dr. Cheyerooto tasked a spacer with collecting five samples of rrwii root from the Etyyy hunting grounds. Cheyerooto hoped to use the root to cure a group of Wookiees of an unknown disease which had driven them insane. The spacer collected the root samples and returned them to Cheyerooto. The Wookiee was pleased and rewarded the spacer with 10,000 credits.
The rrwii appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, prior to its closure on December 15, 2011. The rrwii was added to the game with the release of the expansion pack Rage of the Wookiees on May 5, 2005.
