Rope 17 was an Imperial convoy sent to the Deep Space Manufacturing Facility ZA-13 following its recapture by the Empire from forces loyal to the renegade Grand Admiral Demetrius Zaarin. The station was being upgraded from manufacturing hyperdrives to allow for full production of the TIE Avenger and Rope 17 carried the final equipment to allow the assembly lines to begin operation.

As the convoy approached ZA-13 it came under attack from the Rebel Alliance but the Rebels were defeated by Imperial forces and the convoy was able to deliver its cargo and make it into hyperspace.
