Ron Fricke


Ron Fricke is a film director and cinematographer who shot the 2002 eruption of Mount Etna in Sicily, Italy, alongside film producer Rick McCallum for the 2005 prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Specifically, Fricke's shots were used for scenes set on the volcanic lava world of Mustafar in the film. Fricke and McCallum spent over a week at Mount Etna with approval from the Italian government and accompanied local guide, capturing the eruption on a camera rented from a company in Milan.
