In 19 BBY, resputi-seals made their lair in caverns beside a bone mine above the pools and grottoes of Coranth in the Pau Sinkhole on Utapau. Despite the danger posed by the resputi-seals, the best known caverns, pools, grottoes, and ponds at the bottom of the sinkhole were kept safe by the residents of Pau City.
In the current Star Wars canon, resputi were first mentioned in the 2015 reference book Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know. The full name of resputi-seal was then used in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations, in material reprinted from a section of the 2005 book of the same name that was written by Kerrie Dougherty and marked the creatures' first mention in the Star Wars Legends continuity.
