Between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, during the criminal syndicate Crimson Dawn's war against the Galactic Empire, seventeen Imperial engineers were rescued from an Imperial starship by the Imperial officer Lieutenant Beilert Valance after a Crimson Dawn mole sabotaged the ship's reactor. During the rescue, Valance suffered radiation burns, which he had treated at Ryleel Imperial Base on the planet Carida.
Valance's mission brief following the rescue was read by Imperial General Bordeaux, who described it as "riveting" when the two briefly crossed paths aboard the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Righteous Fist.
