Reed (plant)

On Ahch-To, during Jedi Master Luke Skywalker's first lesson teaching Rey the ways of the Force, he told Rey to close her eyes and "reach out" to connect to the Force—when she shut her eyelids and literally extended an arm in front of her, Skywalker jokingly used a reed stalk to tickle Rey's hand, claiming the sensation she felt was the Force. Rey's excitement was dampened when Skywalker hit her hand with the reed, with the Jedi-hopeful flinching and opening her eyes to see him frowning. The Jedi Master then cast the reed stalk away into the wind and more seriously instructed Rey to spiritually feel the Force.
