Red Flame (symbol)

The Red Flame was a military symbol used by the Chiss. A red piping worn on their military uniforms, it represented the Red Flame, an ideal state of perfection among their people, being the essence of courage, cunning, and discipline.

History

During the Battle of Rhigar in 19 ABY, First Lieutenant Shawnkyr Nuruodo of the Syndic Mitth'raw'nuruodo training academy wore the symbol on her flight suit, as did all the other Chiss cadets. Human Lieutenant Jagged Fel wore the blue piping instead, which Nuruodo noticed. During their conversation in the mechanics bay, Fel noticed the contrast between Shawnkyr's red piping and his own blue piping, which represented a constant reminder that he could never be a Chiss.

During the Yuuzhan Vong War, all members of the Vanguard Squadron wore the symbol on their uniforms.
