In 0 ABY, the Rebel Navy took part in operations on the "breadbasket" planet Reytha, along with the Rebel Air Force and the Alliance Army. The Rebel presence on Reytha was eradicated by a Imperial army led by Darth Vader. The Navy operated a base on an Montrosa Islands island as well as ocean patrols until the end of the battle.
The aquatic Rebel Navy was part of the Rebel Alliance Military and was supported by R2-D5 labor droids. The Rebel Navy, similarly to the Imperial Maritime Division, operated combat vehicles on the water, including destroyers, frigates, cruisers, anti-air destroyers, and transports. The vehicles were constructed at shipyards. Utility trawlers gathered resources such as fish for the Navy.
The Rebel Navy appears in the 2001 video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds. There is a Rebel Navy base in one of the Darth Vader campaign missions which must be destroyed. The mission and therefore the Navy appears in the game's 2002 expansion pack, Clone Campaigns. The vehicles used by the Rebel Navy may be constructed in multiplayer matches by Rebel Alliance players.
One of the staff members of Galactic Battlegrounds development team, Matthew Keast, implied that the Rebel Alliance was at a disadvantage regarding sea-faring operations.
