Ramón F. Bachs (Santa Coloma de Gramanet, Barcelona, Spain, 1973) is a comic-book artist who has worked on many Star Wars comic series.
A lifelong fan of Star Wars, he thinks he is not a collector, though he did have a great number of Kenner action figures some years ago.
He studied for five years at Escuela de Cómic Joso, in Barcelona, Spain. He published his first professional job, Mantícore, in 1996, with scripts by Josep Busquets. Mantícore was well-regarded by critics, and it had two sequels. After that, he did some works for the Spanish market. In 1999, Bachs received the prize in the Salón del Cómic de Barcelona, the most important Comic Convention in Spain, as the best new author (ex aqueo with Sergio Córdoba).
He has since illustrated several 'Star Wars' mini-series, including Jango Fett: Open Seasons, Jedi vs. Sith, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan: Last Stand on Ord Mantell, Starfighter: Crossbones, and Star Wars: Infinity's End as well as some non–Star Wars titles for DC Comics and Wildstorm.
Due to continuity issues, Dark Horse supervised Bachs' work, apparently with great interest in the lightsaber models. However, Bachs complained that he was not provided with real material to base his work on, except for well-known books and a few images from ILM. Even when he had to work with the character of Quinlan Vos, he was not provided with the image of Vos in , where Vos appears as a background character. Similarly, Bachs illustrated Starfighter: Crossbones, including many characters from the video game Star Wars: Starfighter, without access to the game.
He considers Jedi vs. Sith his best Star Wars work and says he would like to work again with Jedi vs. Sith writer Darko Macan.
