Rakatan

The Rakatans, also known as the Rakata, were an ancient amphibious humanoid species native to the planet Lehon, and were, according to legend, the first to develop hyperspace travel. At some point in ancient galactic history, the Rakatans staged an invasion, but were repelled by an uprising. A Kuati Signet embedded with a blue kyber crystal commemorated the uprising. The Rakatan species was said to have eventually gone extinct as a result of corruption from the dark side of the Force. The species shared its name with the historical Rakatan Infinite Empire and the mystical antiquities known as Rakatan wraith boxes.

The Rakatans were first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the forty-seventh issue of the De Agostini magazine Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon, published around November 25, 2015. The species originated in Star Wars Legends in the 2003 video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The Rakata in that game were the fallen remnant of what had once been a galaxy-spanning empire that conquered, ruled, and decimated other species through the dark side of the Force. The Force powered the Rakatans' hyperspace technology.
