Raid on the Gyndine Shipyards

A raid took place in 40 ABY during the Second Galactic Civil War, when the Confederation attacked the Gyndine Shipyards so as to put a dent in Galactic Alliance ship production.

The raid

The Confederation sent a Bothan task force in order to further incapacitate the Galactic Alliance's supply of warships. With a Bothan Assault Cruiser and a goodly supply of Howlrunner fighters, the task force leapt straight for Gyndine, using the planet's gravity well to serve as a means of deceleration, the better to retain the element of surprise.

Immediately after dropping out of hyperspace, a small detachment of the task force attacked the Millennium Falcon, which was leaving for Corellia. After suffering numerous casualties, the taskforce returned to assaulting the shipyards.

Lando Calrissian also witnessed the raid from the Falcon, and evacuated his station over the planet to avoid harm coming to his staff.

The attack was noted along with a string of related operations at an Alliance Intelligence briefing regarding the Confederation's tactics.

Behind the scenes

The Raid on Gyndine appears in Exile by Aaron Allston, the fourth novel in the Star Wars: Legacy of the Force series. The Raid occurs as a minor incident, and is referenced later in the novel.
